Professor and Director of TELIT-SA research entity, FEMS, NWU
Professor Liandi van den Berg is the director of the research entity Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovative Training in South Africa (TELIT-SA). This research entity in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the North-West University, South Africa, has numerous national and international collaborative research projects on innovative technology integration and applications in teaching and learning. The entity’s research focus has three pillars: research-informed teaching and learning with technology, training and development for effective integration of technology and artefact development for teaching and learning. Prof Van den Berg is a core member of the NWU institution’s Digital Business Strategy team, which collectively facilitates the Digital Transformation process within the university. She led an institutional and government-funded project to integrate a new digital assessment platform over three years and implemented training and development for authentic digital assessments. As a full professor, she has numerous outputs, of which many are focused on technology integration in teaching and learning and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She is actively involved in the institutional AI workgroup and the institutional assessment workgroup to develop and review policies, procedures and guidelines. She is involved in the development and training of faculty on AI integration in teaching, learning and research and is currently engaging with research on lecturer and student use of GenAI.
