Associate Professor, IESEG School of Management, France (Co-Investigator)

Dr Lies Bouten works as an Associate Professor at the IESEG School of Management Lille-Paris. In 2011, she obtained her PhD entitled ‘On the determinants of social and environmental reporting and its role as an accountability mechanism’ from Ghent University. 

In broad terms, her recent research focuses on accountability and sustainability accounting. More particularly, her work focuses on the interface between external sustainability reporting, management accounting and external assurance. Dr Bouten’s research has been published in various scholarly journals, including Accounting Forum, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting; Management Accounting Research and Issues in Accounting Education. Dr Bouten has been a member of the scientific committee of several CSEAR and EAA congresses. In 2014, she organized an Emerging Scholar Consortium on Social and Environmental Accounting at IESEG. Since 2017 she has been a member of the organizing committee of the CSEAR congress or doctoral colloquium organized in the UK or online. 

In 2019, Lies Bouten received a teaching excellence award for the financial analysis course she taught at the undergraduate level at the IESEG School of Management. She is currently an editorial board member of Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Accounting Forum and the Social and Environmental Accountability Journal.
