Nadia Gulko, Ph.D. - Associate Professor, University of Lincoln, UK

Dr Gulko is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Lincoln International Business School, the University of Lincoln (UK). In 2023, she was appointed as Extraordinary Associate Professor at the North-West University, South Africa. She is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (UK), qualified with CIMA, and CGMA Academic Champion in the UK. She has taught several postgraduate, large undergraduate, and online courses, mainly specialising in the areas of strategic management accounting and CSR reporting. She previously held leadership roles as Director of Teaching and Learning (2018-2021) and Programme leader for the MSc Governance degree (2017-2019). Promoting inclusive and reflexive practices, Dr Gulko led several teaching and learning initiatives, supported the professional development of staff, and acted as an effective mentor for colleagues in the department and beyond. She demonstrated very strong evidence of impact on students and colleagues and contributed to a wide range of university committees internally and externally. In recognition of her achievements, Dr Gulko was honoured to have received Teaching Excellence Award 2017/18, Vice Chancellor’s Award in Teaching 2018, Best Practice Award 2019 for ‘Increasing Student Engagement’, and Individual Merit Awards 2020 and 2022 from the University of Lincoln. In 2020, she won the prestigious CIMA Global Champion Award 2020 to become #1 in the world in the Teaching Excellence category. In 2023, she received GIWB Best Paper Award at AAA. In 2021, she was nominated by the Eleanor Glanville Centre for her significant impact on the Lincoln International Business School. Before starting her academic career, Dr Gulko worked in the industry for over ten years and held leadership positions in accountancy and management.  

Her research focuses on accounting education, non-financial reporting including CSR and SDGs disclosure, corporate board diversity, and strategic environmental management accounting. She is a member of several research communities, including BAFA, BAFA SIG Accounting Education, EAA, CSEAR, and AAA. She supervises PhD research students, acts as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Accounting Education (2*CABS).
